R E S U M E
Capability
- Development of technical training programs
- Automation engineering/Software engineering
- Engineering and Mining geophysics
- Research in vibrations or heat transfer
Experience
- 1997 to Present Contract factory
automation engineering with Shin Etsu Hondoati P21 Design Team.
My work involves testing of vendor tool interfaces and
implementation of SECS/GEM standard. Testing of work cell control
and station control software operating on an NT network.
- 1996-1997 Designing and developing a
technical curriculum under contract for Shin Etsu Hondoati,
America. The curriculum covers all aspects of silicon wafer
manufacturing.
- 1993-1996 Professor in physics and
engineering at Laramie County Community College, Cheyenne,
Wyoming. Adjunct instructor in earth sciences at University of
Northern Colorado. I taught physics, meteorology, engineering
computing, statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, fluid
mechanics, oceanography, and geology.
- 1986-1993 CEO, Diamond-Anvil Corp.,
Cheyenne, Wyoming. Technical contractor providing services in
earth sciences and general software development. Clients included
Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Co., AMAX, Tencor Instruments,
Honeywell TID, Coastal Chemical, Amoco Minerals, Meridian Oil,
and Cyprus Industrial Minerals. I have managed project budgets as
large as $600,000 per year. I was adjunct at several colleges in
the area part-time, teaching finite mathematics, probability and
statistics, and oceanography.
- 1983-1986 I owned a geophysical consulting
firm with Mr. Arthur L. Lange (Karst Geophysics, Inc., Golden,
CO). We provided earth sciences consulting to companies such as
AMAX, Consolidated Goldfields Mining, the U.S. Navy, and others.
I taught computer science part-time at Regis College, Denver, CO.
- 1981-1982 Geophysicist at Earth Technology
Corp. (Fugro, BV) in Long Beach, California. I developed
geophysical software, and performed deep underground HVAC
studies.
- 1978-1981 The bulk of this time was spent
on my Ph.D. Research. However, I supported myself with
geophysical and engineering consulting work. Clients included
Weidlinger Associates, TerraTek Inc., and others.
- 1975-1978 The bulk of this time was spent
working on an M. Sc. degree (1976-1978). However, I supported
myself as a groundwater hydrologist with the U.S.G.S. Water
Resources Division (GS-7).
- 1975-1976 (Summers only). NSF fellowships
to design and build molecular nitrogen lasers and supporting
hardware for a solid state physics laboratory.
Education
- Ph.D. 1982. University of Utah. Geophysics.
Dissertation topic: Solid/fluid mechanics and heat transfer
applied to problems in solid earth physics.
- M.Sc. 1978. University of Utah. Geophysics.
Thesis topic: Heat transfer by combined conduction and convection
in the subsurface.
- B.Sc. 1975. Montana State University. Physics.
Thesis topic: The construction of molecular nitrogen lasers.
Professional Awards and Activities
- Member of APS and AAAS.
- Excellence in teaching award for engineering and
physics in 1996.
- Technical reviewer for geophysical publications.
- Instructor for Graduate Builders Institute
(NAHB).
- Appointed to SSC Blue Ribbon Task Force by
Wyoming Governor Michael Sullivan in 1987.
